Why Do We Have To Be Healthy?
I received this unusual question a while ago and though
it might make an interested in this thought-provoking idea as well as
being an interesting article. Why should we be healthy? What
is the opposite or alternative? The word “health” encompasses several
parts of your being: physical, mental, social. Lives change, and
so does your thinking when you face illness with a close family member.
Suddenly you realize they have “become” sick. That’s an action word: not
just a thing. And this is happening, right now and you wish you could
stop it. But you don’t have any idea where to start. Our medical
community is still not inclined to teach prevention as opposed to
treatment. |

I was going
through the website this afternoon doing some housekeeping when I came
across Debbie's and Michael's stories. I realized that both of these
stories had been buried within the website and I was thinking of moving
both of them to a new page. For some reason I stopped and took a few
minutes out of my day to read both of these stories and I am very glad
that I did.
It has been a
long time since I have had to deal with any of my fathers' drop attacks or
watching him crawl to bed with a bucket in case he was sick. I had
lost some of the understanding of what it is like for the family to live
through this terrible affliction.
Reading Debbie's
and Michael's stories brought that all back to me. I thought that it
was important for this to be shared with those of you who are looking for
information on Meniere's Disease.
I was on the
outside, looking into what my father had been going through, I cannot even
begin to understand the torment, but these two stories brought back a lot
of what I had forgotten.

Debbie's Story with Meniere's Disease |
| My name is Debbie, I am 45 years old and I have dealt with
the horrible disabling disease called
Meniere's Disease since November of 1997.
The Doctor's told me that I had tinnitus and there was nothing
that could be done for it.
I was told I would have to just learn to live with it. |

Michael's Story with Meniere's Disease |
| My story began back in February 1996. I went along to the doctor for what I
thought would be a routine syringing of my left ear. It had felt full -
blocked up. I had also felt very slightly dizzy, which I put down to the
blocked ear and wearing my walkman too much. The doctor took one look,
told me there was nothing in the ear then announced that I must have
Meniere's Disease. |
