Potassium, Salt and Sodium: How Do They Relate
to Meniere’s Disease symptoms?
We use the
word “balance” often in our correspondence with Meniere’s sufferers and
their families. One of my major frustrations relates to the limited
explanations people get when seeking help for their symptoms. The idea
that the body is completely connected: head to toe, is very frequently
denied. In the following information, I refer not only to salt and
potassium in relation to inner ear issues: I also want to demonstrate a
broader application of this word. I want to refer to the
interrelationship of all parts of our bodies, and our “world”. We
“live” or reflect nature in all aspects of our lives: we can learn many
lessons from it. We can work with this or against nature. We have the
choice.

How Salt and Potassium Work and Where They Are Found. |
|
In this article we work through sodium: why we need it, its normal
values, the results of too much or too little, and how to correct it.
Why we need it: it helps nerve and muscle functions. It also helps to
keep the right balance of fluids in your body. Your kidneys control how
much sodium is in your body. If you have too much and your kidneys can't
get rid it, sodium builds up in your blood. This can lead to
hypertension (high blood pressure). High blood pressure can lead to
other health problems. |

How salt “works” and how to use this knowledge to your advantage. |
|
Salt “Applications”;
we know it
is used to change the flavor of foods: hence we eat it. That is how salt
goes INTO our bodies. It can also come on the skin if you walk close to
salt water. Or you can inhale it (sea water). There is dries out the
tissue. As you would have already read, salt is in the fluid part of the
body. (Potassium is in the cell normally)
One very frequent use of this concept in treatments (drugs/chemicals) is
to “dry up” problems that arise on the outside as well as the inside of
your body. This could include sinus treatments. (Keep in mind that sinus
tissue is a cleaning apparatus to prevent unwanted “elements“ coming
into your respiratory /breathing system.)

Please do not use this information to treat yourself. Use it to be very
aware of your body: how it functions, how it thrives and how it heals.
